Computer Studies
Why computing ?
For many years now Computer Technology has been dominating all aspects of our lives and now with the advent of the Internet they have become an integral part of our home and work activities.
Now more than ever there is a need for skilled personnel in every aspect of the Computing field. Cavendish is a leading centre for computer studies.
A programme of study on one of the Computer courses at Cavendish will open up new opportunities and equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary for obtaining a significant position in the world of work. Alternatively, the qualification you obtain could be used as a stepping-stone to a higher education course at a UK university.
Computer Facilities:
The Computing facilities at Cavendish are extensive with over 100 workstations (using fast Pentium IV technology with over 1GB RAM each) dedicated for the use of the students. All students have easy access to resources such as high resolution scanners, printers (Colour and B&W), CD Writers and video editing facilities. In addition the college has a dedicated Apple Mac lab using the latest softwares and G5 power Macs for video editing and graphic design.
The whole system is fully networked using fast 100Mbps Ethernet connecting to 8 dedicated Windows 2003 Servers with over 350GB of disk capacity. At Cavendish we pride ourselves on using and teaching the latest software from the likes of Macromedia, Microsoft, Autodesk and Adobe.
All students also have continuous access to the Internet for research purposes using a dedicated 2Mbps direct line to the University of London and JANET.
Creative Studies
The Creative Studies Department is a modern facility comprising of a large number of specialised art and design studios incorporating the following:-
- A fashion studio with modern industrial sewing and overlocking machines.
- Design studios equipped with reproduction and enlarging facilities, including a well equipped 3D design studio.
- Three fully fitted photographic darkrooms, plus photo shooting studio with lighting rig.
- 3D woodwork room offering a range of power tools and facilities.
- Traditional print room offering a range of printmaking equipment and processes.
- Traditional Fine Art painting, life room and sculpture studios.
- Animation studio with both traditional and computer oriented capabilities.
The staff are experienced professionals working within their respective fields and are therefore very aware of today's creative requirements.
Whichever course you choose, if you are willing to learn, you cannot have a better start in your chosen creative field. The courses offered cater for both beginners as well as for students with advanced level ability.

A good knowledge of the English language is more important now than ever before. In a world which is becoming increasingly 'International' it is vital to be able to communicate with people across the globe.
English is still the international language and to know it is the key to being able to adapt to the rapid changes we are now facing. Cavendish College educates and trains those ambitious individuals who want to succeed, whether in positions of responsibility in business or industry or at university.
The Cavendish College English Department provides a unique learning environment to its language students.
The English department aims to develop its students' knowledge of English and to ensure that they have the confidence and ability to use that knowledge in a wide variety of situations.
