Our general courses are for adults only and our average student age is 29 years. General courses suit everyone: - Students studying for an exam, Business people, Over 50s, Summer students - Our multi skill system makes each student's progress faster and more enjoyable We offer general courses throughout the year
- You can begin on any Monday you choose - You can study for as little as 1 week, and as long as 1 year - The maximum number of adult students per class is 12, - and the average is 8 Our General Courses are all 21 hours per week: Monday to Thursday 9.30 am - 3.30 pm and Friday 9.30 am to 1.00 pm. Students can use the self-access centre, computers and video rooms until 5.15 pm daily.

These Combination Courses are popular courses that include all the advantages of the General Courses plus intensive one-to-one lessons (with your own personal teacher).

The one-to-one lessons can be used for:
- Help with problems e.g. pronunciation, grammar etc. so students can make faster progress
- Help with Examination preparation
- Special English e.g. Finance, Business, Technical, Medical etc
- Special areas e.g. telephoning, presentations etc.

Executive courses in English are designed to suit the needs of the learner for whom time is short, and who needs to learn in an intensive way.

Executive courses are tailor-made by our expert team of teachers, to provide a precise response to your language needs.

Our Executive Courses provide intensive one to one lessons that will rapidly advance your English language skills.

Delivered by experienced and expert tutors, your personal programme of study will help you excel at whichever aspects of the English language you choose to learn.

Your programme could include any of the following examples:
- Social English
- Business presentations, telephoning, letters etc.
- Legal, Financial, Medical and Technical English

The list can be as varied and long as the world of business itself.

You will be taught by a team of 2, 3 or 4 teachers, each responsible for a different part of your learning experience. Teaching methods are adapted to meet your style and requirements ensuring maximum progress.

All of our teachers are experienced and qualified and use a mixture of authentic and original materials together with published courses.

We place equal emphasis on the four language skills: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking - and each class is taught by a team of three or four teachers, each one responsible for a different language skill and the whole course is co-ordinated by The Director of Studies.

On your first day at Exeter Academy English Language School, you will be given an entry test and then placed in a class according to your language level. At the end of your course, you will be given a Certificate of Attendance showing the level of English attained.

A teachers' meeting is held every week to assess the progress of each student; those who are making rapid progress can move to a higher class and those who are finding the work too difficult can move to an easier level.

First Certificate and IELTS students follow a 21 hour General English programme + 3 hours per week extra exam preparation lessons free of charge.

For both FCE and IELTS we recommend that you book a 12 week course but you can join the courses at any time. Prices are the same as our General courses!

Students on these courses have had great results with 100% pass rates at FCE in December and March and IELTS students getting 6.0!

First Certificate (FCE)

After our latest results have continued to see 100% passes for all our students, we are looking forward to starting the next FCE preparation course in September.

Course Structure
21 hours per week General English skills development
Develops the grammar, vocabulary and other skills needed for the exam.

3 hours per week Exam preparation and practice
Develops strategies and exam skills needed for the exam.

Final two weeks FCE closed intensive group.
The FCE students will be in a closed group all morning to focus only on the exam skills and practice needed for the exam.


IELTS

Once again our students are continuing to get high marks in IELTS exams, our latest two students both getting 6.0 as their overall score.
