캐나다의 대학 중 가장 큰 대학으로 손꼽히는 토론토대학의 ESL코스는 자신이 원하는 수업을 선택하여 들을 수 있도록 다양한 코스가 마련되어 있는 것이 특징이다. 정규코스는 의사소통을 중심으로 하는 일상 영어회화 중심의 프로그램으로 월요일부터 금요일까지 주 26시간,8주간 진행된다. 매 코스가 끝날 때마다 TOEIC시험으로 평가한다.

이외에도 문법강의, EAP, EBP,TOEFL, 영어 교사들을 위한 프로그램등이 마련되어 있다.

입학자격은 영어 연수를 원하는 성인이면 누구나 가능하고 입학시 TOEIC으로 레벨 테스트를 실시하고 있다. 홈스테이는 학교에서 정보만 제공할 뿐 알선해주지는 않고 학기 중인 9월부터 4월까지 연수생은기숙사를 이용할 수 없다.

Speaking English (3 weeks)

Need to develop your oral English in a short time? This three-week course allows you to work on your speaking and listening skills in a quick, intensive way. Improve your language skills, increase your confidence, and enjoy learning English.

• Earn a Certificate in Speaking English from the University of Toronto.

• Become comfortable using English. Your CORE class will strengthen your speaking, bolster your listening abilities, and enhance your vocabulary range.

• Choose your own ELECTIVE class to maximize your English Language Program experience. Elective choices may include Exploring Toronto, Creating Memory Journals, English Basics, and Canadian Customs, or Grammar Review.

• Discover how you can be a better language learner.

• Join our renowned Conversation Club and delight in using your English.

• Attend presentations and events within the University of Toronto and throughout Toronto, and benefit from cultural knowledge guest speakers introduce.

Comprehensive English (5 or 6 weeks)

Learn English for work, for pleasure, or for any reason at all. Sharpen your language skills, increase your confidence and discover the joy of learning English. Mix and match CORE and FOCUS classes to develop a program of study that is right for you. As you advance to new levels, topics and language skills become more complex.

• Earn a Certificate in Comprehensive English from the University of Toronto.

• Become a confident English speaker: use your CORE class to strengthen your speaking, bolster your listening abilities, and enhance your vocabulary range.

• Choose your own FOCUS class to maximize your learning: select from Business English, Personal Writing, or Speaking Clearly.

• Discover how you can be a better language learner.

• Choose from a range of afternoon workshops and activities to complement your classes and USE your English. Afternoon workshops and activities may include Exploring Toronto, Scrapbooking, Film, Grammar Review and more.

• And join, of course, our renowned Conversation Club.

Academic English Full-time Intensive Program (10 or 12 weeks)

Prepare for undergraduate or graduate degree studies by developing the English language skills and strategies (writing, speaking, listening, and reading) necessary for academic work.

* A final grade of 'B' in the highest level (Level 60) of Academic English meets the language facility requirements for degree studies at U of T.

• Earn a Certificate in Academic English from the University of Toronto in Academic English.

• Individualized support and assistance; bi-weekly one-on-one (private) appointments with your instructors to work on your writing and speaking/pronunciation.

• Workshops and counseling appointments to help you complete your university and/or college application.

• More than 20 workshops (in addition to your regular class hours) to help you to target your own academic language development needs, including: Grammar Review, Building Vocabulary; Pronunciation; Technical Writing; Listening Strategies; Speaking Practice and more!

• Lectures and presentations throughout the University of Toronto and guest speakers to help you improve your listening and to help you understand this new culture.

• A vast array of resources and support services at the University of Toronto – learn about the resources that will best serve your language and academic needs.
