알공퀸 대학은 크게 비즈니스, 인문과학, 보건과학 등의 분야로 나뉘어져 각 프로그램이 구성되어 있으며 영어연수 프로그램은 인문과학부에 속해 있습니다.

각 과정은 이수 후 수료증이나 자격증이 주어집니다. ESL 과정은 총 8단계로 나뉘어지며 각 반은 등록 전 레벨테스트 후 편성됩니다. 교사의 지도하에 개인적으로 특별히 부족한 부분을 스스로 공부할 수 있도록 돕는 Self Access Centre도 있습니다.

현장학습이 포함되어 있으며, 영어는 물론 오타와 시에 잘 적응하도록 월요일부터 금요일까지 주당 25시간 짜여져 있는 풀타임 코스입니다. 국제유학생을 위한 상담실이 운영되고 있으며,정규과정의 캐나다 학생들과 친구가 되어 캐나다를 보다 잘 알 수 있도록 하는 'Peer'프로그램도 준비되어 있습니다.

프로그램 구성은 레벨 테스트 결과를 바탕으로 , 학생들간의 같은 수준의 언어 능력을 가진 다른 학생들과 공부하게 됩니다 .

Algonquin Language Institute offers an exciting English as a Second Language program designed to meet the needs of International students.

The Algonquin Language Institute offers eight levels of full-time instruction (22.5 hours per week). International students who wish to improve their English language communication skills and/or prepare for college or university entrance will find a program suited to help them meet their objectives. Friendly, caring instructors provide a supportive environment for learning. All our professors are highly trained with undergraduate degrees and TESL certification.

The program consists of classroom instruction, independent study and "living language" experiential learning. Field trips in the city allow the students to communicate in English and to become familiar with OTTAWA, Canada ' s Capital.

Students have full access to the Multimedia Language Training Centre for independent and/or computer-assisted learning.

Students may choose to register in additional classes such as: TOEFL preparation, conversation classes, and business communication skills.

Algonquin College ' s full-time TESL/TEFL Certificate program offers a combination of theory and practicum courses to prepare participants for English teaching positions in Canada(ESL) and foreign countries (EFL). Applicants must have a university degree in a related field such as: English or Sociology. As communication is an integral part of this program, applicants require a minimum TOEFL score of 664.
